Show Notes

This week, we listen to an interview that was recorded during our "Pastoral Responses" day-long  seminar that was held at the end of June InterTerm 2021 at Trinity School for Ministry.  The Rev. Dr. Jack Gabig facilitates the interview, and is joined by three of our students: Sam Ferguson (MDiv), Kelsey Regan (DMin), and Linda Schlafer (DMin). The interviewee was Curt Thompson, MD,  author of "The Anatomy of the Soul" and "The Soul of Shame."
Dr. Thompson answers various questions throughout the interview, including:

  • What is the difference between guilt and shame?
  • How should the church respond to the overall decline in mental health since the pandemic shutdown?
  • How important is it for pastors and therapists to recognize the role of shame in their lives as well as the lives of the people they serve?

Our InterTerms occur every January and June at the Ambridge campus.  More details about the upcoming January InterTerm will be available on our website (www.tsm.edu) soon!
